Athlon Outdoors Announces Updates to Personal Defense World Network

Twelve issues, one new magazine, rebranded titles and a newly designed website

Nashville, TN — Athlon Outdoors is updating its lineup of magazine titles and aligning some under the “Personal Defense World” brand to create a multi-channel network dedicated to the personal- and home-defense audience.

This year, Personal & Home Defense magazine will be renamed Personal Defense World to align with its digital companion, PersonalDefenseWorld.com. The annual publication Gun Buyer’s Annual has already been rebranded to include the Personal Defense World branding, as it is now the Personal Defense World Gun Buyer’s Annual. In addition, the new title Personal Defense World’s Everything You Wanted To Know About Your First Gun But Were Afraid To Ask is scheduled to hit newsstands March 27, 2018.

The premier edition of Your First Gun will be a complete buyer's guide specifically designed for the first-time gun owner or new shooter. This annual publication will offer plenty of unmatched expertise without being intimidating to someone new to this realm. The goal is to create complete a guidebook that you’ll refer to and pass along to fellow first-time gun owners. Topics covered include certification/permit applications; buying tips for guns, ammo and accessories; training; home defense and safety tips; real-world legal lessons; concealed-carry insurance; gun customization; joining a shooting club; introducing other new shooters; and so much more. It’ll be the first stop for anyone interested in self-defense.

Other legacy magazine titles in the network include the bimonthly Combat Handguns and the biannual Concealed Carry Handguns.

Also getting a new look and upgrade is the corresponding website PersonalDefenseWorld.com. This newly redesigned website still holds the largest collection of digital personal- and home-defense content, but now it has been optimized to a mobile-first design with an improved user experience. Content loading has been updated to a scroll functionality with more desirable in-content ad placements throughout. The right rail has been eliminated for a full-width editorial experience on the homepage and all category landing pages. New native video ad placements are also available along with premium category sponsorships.

Soon PersonalDefenseWorld.com will offer its community an e-newsletter for users to be connected on the latest personal- and home-defense content to hit the website and access to dozens of sweepstakes, giveaways and special promotions available through Athlon Outdoors’ advertising and editorial partners.
