Michigan Wildlife Council to meet Tuesday in Traverse City

The Michigan Wildlife Council will meet Tuesday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Department of Natural Resources Customer Service Center, 2122 South M-37, in Traverse City, Michigan.

Agenda items include the statewide survey report review, 2018 research recommendations and the Year 3, Flight 2 media plan review from Gϋd Marketing, the firm that developed and is implementing the media campaign to educate Michigan residents about the benefits of hunting, fishing and trapping in Michigan. There also will be a review of the financial report and approval of the semiannual report to the Legislature.

The council will receive public comments beginning at 12:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to address the council during that time may register with Kathy McGonagle, assistant to the Michigan Wildlife Council, at 517-284-6056 or mcgonaglek@michigan.gov. Each person will be limited to three minutes. Registration also will be available during the meeting.

The Michigan Wildlife Council is a nine-member public body established by Public Act 246 of 2013. Members are appointed by the governor and subject to the advice and consent of the Senate. Created by the Legislature to direct the expenditures of the Michigan Wildlife Management Public Education Fund, the council will work in conjunction with Gϋd Marketing to promote the essential role that sportsmen and sportswomen play in furthering wildlife conservation and to provide education about hunting, fishing and taking of game.
