Montana: Lake Frances Closed to Aid in Fire Suppression
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) is temporarily closing Lake Frances in Pondera County, effective immediately, so that lake water can safely be used to help fight nearby wildfires.
This closure applies to all recreation, such as boating, swimming, wading and fishing and is meant to protect public safely. Aircraft will be scooping and bucketing water from the lake.
Officials say the closure will be in place until fire crews no longer need to use the lake for suppression efforts. For up-to-date information on this closure and restrictions related to drought and fire, visit fwp.mt.gov/news/restrictions/
