SOFREP TV's Training Cell Episode 7

NEW YORK –– The Training Cell team takes to the dense foliage of Hawaii for another intense training session. Individuals went through in an accelerated tracking course in the jungle to hone skills useful in any environment—urban or otherwise. As part of the curriculum they also executed several battle drills including break and react to contact. The "Rumble in the Jungle" trailer is available for all to preview and live for SOFREP members.

Recent Combat Experience

Identifying enemy movement has emerged as a key factor from conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. One version of this is combat tracking—if the fighting force can determine the movement, or trail, of their enemy they are one step closer to eliminating that threat.

"Finding and tracking the enemy is crucial," said Training Cell producer and ex-Army Ranger Drew Wallace. "We chose the jungle because if you can track there, you can track anywhere. The course we completed focused on important skills such as refining macro and micro identification techniques, developing enemy profiles off enemy tracks and more."

Peter Kerr with Tactical Tracking Operations School (TTOS) presented the former operators with several challenges. He started with basic combat tracking and ended in immediate action drills meant to simulate real scenarios from the battlefield. The trainees also got a chance to use a new hot weather jungle uniform from Tyr Tactical and completed a lot of the training with the Daniel Defense DD5V1 in .308 (7.62x51mm). The heavier projectile and platform is ideal for the jungle and more effective in other areas with a lot of cover.
