The Fort Golf Course (IN) offers free club demo day on Friday

Hoosier golfers have a unique opportunity this Friday, Aug. 25, at The Fort Golf Course at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.

American factory representatives and expert club fitters from EPON and Nippon Shaft, two of Japan's leading makers of golf equipment, will be at The Fort from 2 to 6 p.m. Golfers who attend will have the opportunity to have the representatives test aspects of their game. The reps will use the tests to identify the most ideal head and shaft combination for each golfer they test.

EPON and Nippon Shaft were used by Sergio Garcia to win this year's Masters Tournament.

To participate in the Aug. 25 event, golfers simply need to show up. No advance notice is needed, and there is no charge.

"This is a chance for average to tour-level players to learn and try new equipment," said Bruce Rearick, general manager of The Fort Golf Resort.

Rearick said landing this event is a major win for The Fort.

"This is an opportunity to have an enhanced business relationship with two global golf companies," Rearick said. "This also helps us create a strategic sponsorship with Swing Science, which is the local company that distributes the brands."

Golfers of all levels will have another opportunity to test equipment at The Fort on Saturday, Sept. 9, when the course will host TaylorMade's national launch of two new irons. Times will follow as the event nears.

The Fort Golf Course is the only on-site stay/play course in Indianapolis and is part of the Indiana Pete Dye Trail Course. More information is at thefortgolfcourse.com or (317) 543-9597.
