Iowa's Steel Shooters of Traer Claim Open Division National Title In 1911 Event
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Iowa's Steel Shooters of Traer claimed the Open Division national title in the 1911 pistol event at the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) National Team Championships in Ohio.

The Steel Shooters won the title with a time of 240.73 seconds led by their top shooter Cole Busch of Cresco with 53.06. Busch was supported by teammates Clayton Sienkneht of Traer with 56.14, Tanner Calderwood of Traer with 65.23 and Megan Carty of Dysart with 66.30.

Second place in the match went to the South Texas Shooters who finished with 288.63 seconds. The Lone Star State squad was led by the event's high overall shooter Ethan Inocando of Mission with 38.00, followed by Holdon Perez of Harlingen with 44.14, Alora Hager of Rio Hondo with 98.92 and Isabella Farias of McAllen with 107.57.

Held July 8-15 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, 430-plus athletes representing 19 states put over 55,000 rounds down range during eight days of competition in the sport of Speed Shooting. The format of the match has shooters facing four stages, each with five steel plates. Racing against an electronic timer, each stage is designed to test a shooter's speed and accuracy.

The Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use the shooting sport of Speed Shooting to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills.

Nationally, there are over 1,300 students and more than 400 coaches from 31 states participating in the Scholastic Action Shooting Program. The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. (SSSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the National Governing Body for the Scholastic Action Shooting Program.
