Henry Co. No Fly Zone of Tennessee Wins Intermediate/Advanced Div. Doubles Skeet National Title

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Volunteer State's Henry County No Fly Zone edged out teams from Iowa and Montana to claim the Doubles Skeet title in the Intermediate/Advanced Division during competition at the 2017 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Team Championships.

Breaking 267 of their 300 targets, the trio of Henry County No Fly Zone shooters, all from Paris, Tennessee, were led by Sawyer Williams who broke 92 targets. Will Overton finished one back with 91 and Dalton Dodd added another 84 in the team's championship run.

Falling three targets behind were the Haywood Young Guns of Iowa. Led by Cason Robbins of Jackson with 92, the Young Guns finished with a combined 264 targets. Teammates Sterling Mansfield of Humboldt and William (Will) Parkey of Gadsden finished with 88 and 84 targets respectively.

Rounding out the top three with 260 targets were the Smokin Guns of Montana. Preston Bailey of Columbus led with 99 followed by Connor Bergman of Laurel with 89 and Brison Ralph of Columbus with 72.

Held July 8-15 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, more than 2,300 athletes representing 29 states faced over one million clay targets during eight days of competition in the shooting disciplines of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) is a youth development program in which adult coaches and other volunteers use the shooting sports of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays, as well as the Olympic disciplines of Bunker Trap, Trap Doubles and International Skeet to teach and to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork, and other positive life skills. Nationally, there are nearly 14,800 students and more than 3,300 adult volunteers across 45 states participating in the Scholastic Clay Target Program.

The Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation, Inc. (SSSF), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the National Governing Body for the Scholastic Clay Target Program. SCTP was started by the National Shooting Sports Foundation in 2001.
