Idaho: Public Invited to Presentation About Sharp-tailed Grouse, Habitat and Wind Energy
Sharp-tails in the Foothills: Columbian Sharp-tailed Grouse, Habitat, and Wind Energy Development
IDAHO FALLS – The Upper Snake Region is home to a number of species of grouse, one of these is the Columbia Sharp-tailed Grouse, that have lived for centuries on the fields east of Idaho Falls. The same places that these grouse have called home are now not only being utilized for agriculture but also intensive wind energy development. Regional Wildlife Diversity Biologist Matt Proett did his graduate research at Utah State University about the grouse, their habitat, and wind energy development. He will be providing a free program to the public at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 29, at the Idaho Department of Fish & Game Office located at 4270 Commerce Circle in Idaho Falls.

While Proett's research involved plenty of hardcore scientific research, he will be giving a more informal presentation geared at the general public that has an interest in the sharp-tailed grouse and the impact on its habitat by wind energy development. His presentation will be about 40-45 minutes with 15-20 minutes for questions.
