"Golden Hour" Smartphone Photography Workshop at Summit Lake SP

Learn to take photographs with your smartphone using the soft, natural light provided by the "Golden Hour" at Summit Lake State Park on June 3.

The "Golden Hour" Smartphone Photography Workshop starts at 7 p.m. The "Golden Hour" is a period before sunset when daylight is softer than when the sun is higher in the sky.

Participants will learn to use their smartphones to photograph landscapes, portraits, still lifes and perform macrophotography. After an hour of instruction, participants will shoot photographs throughout the park.

James Moriarty of Moriarty Media is teaching the workshop.

Registration costs $10 and is limited to 10 people. Register at moriartymedia.com. Participants will receive admission to the park, a bound color printed handout and a box of photographic clip-on lenses for smartphones.

At a second workshop on Oct. 7, participants will have the chance to review each other's work.

The workshop is a signature project of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission and is made possible, in part, with support from the Indiana Arts Commission and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Summit Lake State Park is located at 5993 N. Messick Road, New Castle, IN 47362.
