P.R.A.D. Inc. Accepts Applications For 2017 Grant Awards

Patuxent River Appreciation Days, Inc. is pleased to announce the opening of the 2017 grant round. Non-profit organizations and people that help to achieve positive stewardship of the Patuxent River or Patuxent River Basin and its history are eligible to apply. This includes scouts, school groups, students, parks, museums, etc. Apply today at www.calvertmarinemuseum.com/315/Grants.

The PRAD grant recipients for 2016 were the Bernie Fowler Wade-In and funding to bring a caulking demonstration to the Solomons Maritime Festival. The Wade-In celebrated 29 years of checking water clarity. It's an annual measurement of water quality based on how far Mr. Fowler can wade into the river while still being able to see his white high-top sneakers. The Solomons Maritime Festival is held on the first Saturday of May at the Calvert Marine Museum and celebrates the rich traditions of Southern Maryland.

Awards are made on a competitive basis by the P.R.A.D., Inc. Board of up to $1,000 per organization in any one calendar year. The P.R.A.D., Inc. Board includes members of the Calvert Marine Museum, the Pa-Po-Peake Shrine Club, The Calvert Artists Guild, The American Legion Arick L. Lore Post, and the Calvert County Waterman's Association. Patuxent River Appreciation Days is sponsored by the Calvert County Commissioners, and without their assistance, funds would not be available for educational and environmental grants.
