The Pope and Young Club Announces Re-Opening Of The P&Y/St. Charles Museum of Bowhunting

Chatfield, MN - During the recent extreme wet weather, the Pope and Young Club's Museum of Bowhunting's dehumidifiers were not keeping up with the added moisture in the air. Further inspection revealed a leaking roof and an abandoned and capped waterline that had been leaking for quite some time.

The extreme humidity in the building lead staff and board members to be very concerned about possible damage to the books and artifacts in the museum. The decision was made to close things down for a while to fix these problems.

"We just finished some much needed major repairs and upgrades to The Pope and Young Club/St. Charles Museum of Bowhunting," said Jim Willems, President of The Pope and Young Club. "Professionals were brought in and the problems were fixed. We are now open again and happy to report that the professionals were able to clean things up and there was no lasting damage to any of the museum's contents. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused to our patrons but sometimes extreme conditions do not allow for proper notice before actions need to be taken. Thanks to all who helped remedy the problem and thank you all for your patience."

Opened in 2004, The Pope and Young Club/St. Charles Museum of Bowhunting is located in the rolling hills and farmland of southeastern Minnesota, just minutes off of Interstate 90. This Museum was created to increase the awareness and appreciation of North America's bowhunting heritage and history. It is the singular, crowning testimony to North America's rich bowhunting heritage--a place to learn about bowhunting's history, a place to appreciate bowhunting's "rediscovery" and a place to understand bowhunting's role in wildlife conservation and our culture. From day one, the Pope and Young Club/St. Charles Museum of Bowhunting has been open to the public and free of charge.

This incredible connection to our bowhunting heritage operates solely on public donations. If you would like to make a donation to the Club's Museum Fund, please call (507) 867- 4144 or email admin@pope-young.org. To donate online go to: www.pope-young.org/information/donate.asp

The Pope and Young Club is a non-profit North American conservation and bowhunting organization dedicated to the promotion and protection of our bowhunting heritage, hunting ethics and wildlife conservation. The Club also maintains the universally recognized repository for the records and
statistics on North American big game animals harvested with a bow and arrow.
