IFA Redfish Tour event pays out more than $44,000
NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Mike McDonald and Lin Fore Jr., both of Georgetown, South Carolina, weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 9.34 pounds to win the second event for the Atlantic Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Cabela's on Sept. 24 at Georgetown, South Carolina.
This is the first win for the angling duo that has fished the IFA Redfish Tour for five years collective. The pair fished clear waters under blue skies in the Santee Delta with Berkley Gulp! under a rattle float.
The team took home more than $28,000 in winnings including a fully rigged Ranger 1862 with a 70 horsepower Yamaha outboard. The anglers gained an additional $2,938 in Angler's Advantage cash. The team's 5.16-pound redfish also earned them the $100 Berkley Gulp Big Redfish Award.
Second-place finishers David Banks, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Jeremy Collins, of Maysville, North Carolina, brought in a total of 9.28 pounds to win a total of $2,746. The anglers fished ran four minutes from the launch, dead sticking and throwing top-water baits.
The weekend was beautiful but the wind turned on tournament day and the bite quit," said Banks. "But, everything worked out in our favor. It was amazing."
Third-place finishers Jared Allison and Lance Allison, both of Cocoa, Florida, weighed in 9.22 pounds to take home $1,748 in winnings, including $250 for the Run with Lucas Oil contingency award. The anglers fished oyster bars in South Bulls Bay with Berkley Gulp! and gold spoons.
The 28th-place finishing team DeMoux/Hill and 39th–place team Wallace/Mims each won the $100 BoatUS contingency award for being members of BoatUS.
The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is Oct. 21-22 at St Bernard Parish, Louisiana, for the season-ending championship. Teams that compete in at least two regular season events will be qualified for the 2016 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
