Big aoudad in Lone Star Outdoor News

DALLAS — An aoudad taken August 19 in the Trans-Pecos region of Texas by hunter Jimmy Matthews may be a record-setter. The 39 2/8-inch ram could be the largest free-ranging aoudad ever taken, but Matthews will have to wait for the final determination to see if it makes the record book. This hunting story and more are in the August 26 issue of Lone Star Outdoor News, available today at www.lsonews.com.

In fishing, a break in the summer heat saw more people heading out just before school and the dove-hunting season begin. One Houston man takes his kayak and fly rod and targets the bowfin. Another anglers chases deep-water smallmouths on Lake Belton, while two others each landed a double-digit largemouth, one during a tournament on Lake Bob Sandlin in East Texas and the other on Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin.
