Mansfield Roller Mill hosts Beans and Cornbread Day

Celebrate the end of summer with an old-fashioned dish of beans and cornbread, live music and a tour of the 1880s Mansfield Roller Mill, Sept. 10.

Beans and Cornbread Day runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mansfield Roller Mill. Admission is free.

The Rockville Tri-Kappa philanthropic sorority will sell beans to raise money for a variety of causes, including caring for the mill, college scholarships, donations to Riley Hospital for Children and community projects.

At 1 p.m., guitarist and singer Jack Shannon will perform "Jack Shannon Presents: Lyrics & Meanings—One Songwriter's Approach." The performance is part of the 2016 Indiana Arts in the Parks program. A songwriting workshop open to 10 people will take place afterward.

From 2:30 to 4 p.m. visitors can join the naturalist for candle making in front of the mill. There will be a fee of $2 per person to help cover material costs.

The mill will be open and free to enter. An interpretive naturalist will be on hand to discuss its historical importance. The mill contains original 1880s equipment.
