S3DA Names Starnes as Ind. State Coordinator

Louisville, KY - As existing Indiana S3DA Coordinator, Derek Marshal steps down, Scholastic 3-D Archery has named Scott Starnes, of Crawfordsville Indiana, as the new S3DA Indiana State Coordinator. As the State Coordinator, Scott will continue to grow the S3DA program in Indiana. Building on the great work done by outgoing Indiana State Coordinator, Derek Marshal.

"Indiana S3DA has built a very strong base of archers, teams and regional coordinators over the past 4 years," says Derek Marshal, outgoing Indiana State Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "I am confident that Scott and the other regional coordinators will continue to grow S3DA in the great Hoosier state."
Scott received his first bow in 1985, just for hunting. He went on to harvest several whitetail deer including one Pope and Young buck. Scott was also treasurer of his local archery club for several years and served on the Indiana Field Archery Association board as a Pro Rep. No stranger to S3DA, Scott is the Central Indiana Regional Coordinator as well as helping coach the Attica Scholastic 3-D Archery program. Scott shoots in the NFAA Pro Division and has made the shoot-off at Vegas and Indoor Nationals several times. Scotts list of accomplishments do not end there, he is also a State and National record holder, 2008 Stan Open Champion, 2011 NFAA Indoor National Champion, 2014 USA Archery Indoor National Champion, 2015 USAT Team member, 2 time Midwest Open champion and 3 time Kansas City Shoot-out Champion. Scott resides in Crawfordsville Indiana with Wife Dee and son Austin.

"I have been involved with S3DA for almost 3 years now. First as a coach then as Central IndianaCoordinator," says Scott Starnes, new Indiana State Coordinator for Scholastic 3-D Archery. "S3DA in Indiana would not be where it is today without all the hard work Derek Marshall has invested over the past 4 years. We all thank him for his efforts getting this program up and running in Indiana. I feel with the regional coordinators we have in place, Indiana will continue to see exceptional growth, and continue to give the kids great opportunities to compete."

Started in December 2012 by the Scholastic Archery Association, S3DA has grown exponentially as a next step program to follow introductory programs offered as part of 4-H or the National Archery in Schools Program. S3DA addresses the need for a program to bridge beginning target archery experience and more advanced activities such as 3-D shooting and bowhunting. The program currently operates across the United States with hundreds of certified coaches serving thousands of young archers, grades 3–12.
