'Home Light: Exploring the Piers and Lighthouses of Grand Haven'

Grand Haven Pier and Lighthouse on the water.Families and friends of all ages are invited to join the Friends of Grand Haven State Park and the Tri-Cities Historical Museum for "Home Light: Exploring the Piers and Lighthouses of Grand Haven" Thursday, July 14, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Grand Haven State Park pavilion, 1001 S. Harbor Drive, Grand Haven, Michigan.

The special event includes a slide presentation, an adult question-and-answer session, lighthouse-themed "make it/take it" craft activities for children, light refreshments and book displays. Visitors of all ages are welcome, but children younger than 12 years old must be accompanied by a parent.

This project is funded in part by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. RSVPs are appreciated at info@friendsofghsp.org.

The lighthouse and fog house on the Grand Haven south pier are favorite destinations for many residents and visitors, but they are more than just attractions. These piers and lighthouses are an important part of the history, culture and economy of Grand Haven.
