Fletcher Pond public boat launch now open for public use

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources yesterday announced the public boating access site at Fletcher Pond in Alpena County is now open following repairs made to damaged ramp planks and the construction of a new skid pier.

Fletcher Pond is well-known for its monster pike, bass and many perch and pan fish. Many geese and ducks use the pond as a resting area and more than 25 nesting platforms help create one of the highest concentrations of nesting ospreys in Michigan, making it a birder's paradise.
