Houston, TX – Houston Safari Club (HSC) is pleased to share the good news of its support for The Tashinga Initiative. The HSC Board of Directors has approved a grant for a forward anti-poaching base in the central Lower Zambezi Valley, to enhance the efficacy and efficiency of anti-poaching units and reaction time to incursions by poachers.
Lynne Taylor, Founder and Executive Director, The Tashinga Initiative: "Demonstrating its conservation intent and understanding by the international safari hunting community of the real needs in the field, Houston Safari Club is playing a highly positive and impactful role towards the establishment of a strategic Ranger Anti-poaching and Training Base in the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife's protected areas estate at Mana Pools. The areas comprise Hurungwe, Sapi, Chewore and Dande Safari Areas, and Mana Pools National Park. Enjoying appropriate accommodation, solar powered potable water provision, energy, access to the internet, as well as excellent security, Rangers carrying out the anti-poaching effort will be significantly enhanced in their efficiency and efficacy of operations. Tashinga Initiative Trust, Zimbabwe is proud to be working in partnership with Houston Safari Club and Parks and Wildlife Management Authority in the implementation of this Grant."

The Tashinga Initiative Trust, working in close liaison with Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, provides support to its resource management and operations in the Zambezi Valley's mosaic of protected areas under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Wildlife Management Authority of Zimbabwe. These Protected Areas are also categorized as World Heritage Sites, UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Intensive Protection Zone for Black Rhino, and fall into two Trans Frontier Conservation Areas, Kavango Zambezi in the north-west, and Lower Zambezi in the north-east.
