This Week on Buckeye Sportsman Radio Show

Focus of Feb. 13 Buckeye Sportsman Radio Show:
Better Days for Ohio Buck Hunters!

Plymouth, Minn. — Ohio Outdoor News, one of the seven Outdoor News titles published by Outdoor News, Inc., invites listeners in the Buckeye State to tune in this Saturday to the Buckeye Sportsman weekly radio broadcast. The Feb. 13 show will feature the deer program administrator for the state of Ohio, Dr. Mike Tonkovich, Ohio Outdoor News Editor Mike Moore, and Buckeye Sportsman host Dan Armitage, who will be discussing the increase in antlered bucks harvested during Ohio's just-ended season.

As of Jan. 26, Ohio hunters had killed almost 76,000 antlered bucks. That compares to 65,000 antlered deer killed at this point a year ago for a 15-percent increase in 2015-2016. Tonkovich, Moore and Armitage will discuss the reasons for the increase and why the antlerless harvest didn't similarly increase. Ohio's all-seasons deer hunt ended on Feb. 7.

Buckeye Sportsman is carried by dozens of stations across the greater Ohio region that broadcast the weekly program, which is now in its 19th season on the air, making it the longest-running outdoor radio show in the state. Moore has been a longstanding guest on the Buckeye Sportsman radio show, focusing on valuable conservation and natural resource issues, archery, fishing, and news about regional shooting sports. Dan Armitage, host of Buckeye Sportsman, is also a popular speaker at the major sport shows in and around Ohio, where he conducts hunting and fishing seminars every winter.
