January Outdoor Youth of the Month Aspires to Career as Conservation Officer

(Plymouth, Minn.) — As a freshman at Hopkins North Junior High, 14-year-old Tyler Fromm of New Hope, Minn., already has a resume filled with outdoor-related accomplishments that support his hoyopes to pursue a career as a conservation officer. The January 29 issue of Minnesota Outdoor News highlighted Fromm's goals for the future through his recognition as the January Outdoor Youth of the Month.

The Outdoor Youth of the Month program is a partnership between Outdoor News and Clam Outdoors to recognize Minnesota youth in grades 7-12 who the public have nominated thanks to their demonstrated leadership or excellence in the outdoor pursuits including: habitat restoration efforts, archery, the shooting sports, or mentored fishing and hunting programs.

Fromm is an active volunteer with the Minnesota-based Fishing For Life organization, and he volunteers for the North Metro Chapter of the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. Staff from Outdoor News and Clam Outdoors selected Fromm for the award. Both businesses encourage the public to nominate Minnesota young people for the Youth of the Month. One winner each month is selected and in addition to a feature published in Minnesota Outdoor News, the youth also receives a prize package including $250 in merchandise and a $250 cash award from Clam Outdoors and a plaque from Outdoor News. Additionally, the organization that the youth designates as having played a significant role in their development in the outdoor pursuits will also receive a $250 cash award from Clam Outdoors. Fromm, who shares his love for fishing with younger kids by serving as a junior guide volunteering towards Fishing For Life, has selected this organization to receive the cash honorarium.
