Posewitz Earns Conservationist of the Year Award from NWF

Helena, MT— Orion - the Hunter's Institute is proud to announce its founder, Jim Posewitz, has received the "Conservationist of the Year" award from the National Wildlife Federation (NWF).

"Jim Posewitz is a conservation legend in the Northern Rockies. Whether it has been fighting for the reintroduction of bison onto the Great Plains as an advocate, promoting fair chase hunting ethics as an author, facilitating conservation nonprofit health and activities as a foundation funder, or preaching about the historic role of hunters in conservation as an educator, Jim has been the conscience and heart of the conservation and wildlife community for decades," said Collin O'Mara, president and chief executive officer of the National Wildlife Federation.

Posewitz was honored at the National Conservation Achievement Awards in Washington D.C.

Orion has been instrumental in the area of national public education for the advancement of ethical hunting, wildlife conservation and the preservation of our hunting heritage. As Orion's founder, Posewitz has written several books and papers focusing on ethical hunting lessons, which are still used in wildlife classrooms today.

Orion also provides leadership on issues, policies and objectives for national conservation and government agencies that will educate hunter's behavior. Since 1994, Orion's leaders have influenced local and national policy affecting the future of fair chase and responsible hunting. Today, they continue their work connecting with state agencies, NGO's and the outdoor industry on responsible hunting projects. Most recently, Orion is rebuilding its website and expanding further digital platforms to encourage more wide use of its educational materials.
