World Fishing Journal Is All New This Sunday

JP DeRose Hosts UFC Fighter Mike Pyle for a Day on the Water That Turns into a Bout Against a Fearsome Competitor

Mark Melnyk Takes the Polar Pout Plunge at the International Eelpout Festival, Where Compared to the Temperature, the Water is Warm

The Fulton Fish Market Left Behind a 183-Year Legacy When it Relocated in 2005, but 10 Years Later, the Final Chapter of Its History Remains to be Written

DENVER and TORONTO, Canada - World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, airs the latest episode of its signature monthly magazine format show, World Fishing Journal, with three new segments showcasing unique stories from across the angling community on Sunday, March 1 starting at 11:30 a. m. ET.

World Fishing Journal brings together a roster of talented sports producers to craft engaging, story-driven features based around the angling community and fishing industry. Sunday's segments include:

• Mike Pyle is a UFC fighter who loves to fish. He lives his life by what he calls The Three F's: Family, Fishing and Fighting. So what does it take to make one of the fiercest competitors in the world stop to think twice before he puts his trophy catch on display? This entertaining and often humorous segment shows off the lighter side of one of the UFC's toughest as JP DeRose, host of JP DeRose Breaking Boundaries, takes Mike out for a day on the water he won't soon forget.

• For the past 30 years for three days in February, crowds that number more than 10 times the population of Walker, Minn. (pop. 1,069) gather on the 112,000 acre Leech Lake, third largest in Minnesota, for a festival named after the eelpout - a bottom-dwelling fish whose appearance is considered to be less than appealing. And in a state where it's common to embrace the quirky and find some great fun under the most unlikely circumstances and weather conditions (the 2015 edition experienced frigid temps and severe wind chill), the International Eelpout Festival is pure fun in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

• New York City boasts many famous streets: 34th Avenue, Fifth Avenue and Broadway, to name a few. Not among them, however, is South Street and the neighboring Seaport District, where the Fulton Fish Market resided for 183 years at a time when it was the largest wholesale seafood market in the Western Hemisphere. Abandoned since the relocation of the Fulton Fish Market in 2005, the historic market building is now target by developers for demolition and a bitter struggle has ensued between the developer, the city and its residents that has the fate of the South Street Seaport and a part of its rich history hanging in the balance.
