This Week in Lone Star Outdoor News

The big females largemouth bass have moved shallow on Amistad and Falcon International Reservoirs, and anglers are catching the big fish in good numbers this month on these two great lakes. Read about what is working to put the big bass in the boats in this issue of Lone Star Outdoor News, available today on newsstands and online at LSONews.com.

Coastal guides in the Baffin Bay area have found catching the really big spotted seatrout tougher this year. They are still catching loads of quality fish up to 5 pounds, but the really big, trophy fish more than 30 inches and over 8 pounds have been more elusive. Read what is causing the tough bite this year and what guides are throwing to entice the occasional big fish to bite.

Also in fishing, LSON looks at winter bass fishing on power plant lakes, the white bass run and big black drum along the coast.

In hunting, several stories involving the LSON Foundation are highlighted, including a veteran taking a unique South Texas buck and an epic one-morning, 16-covey rise wild quail hunt.

Also in hunting, LSON previews the upcoming South Zone spring turkey season, looks at the conservation goose hunting and rabbit hunting for a tasty meal.

As always, we have the most accurate fishing reports and our popular Game Warden Blotter recounting tales of some of the dumbest poachers in the state.
