FishAmerica Foundation Receives $125,000 Donation

Alexandria, VA – The FishAmerica Foundation (FAF) is, once again, the recipient of a generous donation from the American Snuff Company (ASC). For the second year, the company has made a generous donation to the foundation to further the foundation's mission of fisheries conservation and habitat restoration.

This year, ASC selected and featured twelve habitat and restoration projects funded by the FishAmerica Foundation in communities across the U. S., along with those of another organization. Individuals viewed the foundation's projects more than 30,000 times to show their interest and support for their favorite projects.

Among the most viewed projects were the foundation's partnership projects with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to remove six obstructive dams throughout the Little Lehigh Watershed in Emmaus, Pa.

"We are honored that the FishAmerica Foundation was chosen by the American Snuff Company to receive such a significant contribution" said American Sportfishing Association (ASA) President and CEO Mike Nussman. "To be selected as a recipient two years in a row is a testament to the important work the foundation does to help conserve our nation's fisheries and their habitats. We sincerely appreciate the American Snuff Company's generosity. "

As ASA's research and conservation foundation, the FishAmerica Foundation provides funding to help empower local communities to invest in improving sportfishing opportunities and habitat conservation through matching funding and volunteer support. Since 1983, the foundation has invested in more than 900 projects to enhance fish populations, restore fisheries habitat, improve water quality and advance fisheries research to improve sportfishing opportunities and help ensure fishing's future.

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) is the sportfishing industry's trade association committed to representing the interests of the entire sportfishing community. We give the industry a unified voice, speaking out on behalf of sportfishing and boating industries, state and federal natural resource agencies, conservation organizations, angler advocacy groups and outdoor journalists when emerging laws and policies could significantly affect sportfishing business or sportfishing itself. ASA invests in long-term ventures to ensure the industry will remain strong and prosperous, as well as safeguard and promote the enduring social, economic and conservation values of sportfishing in America. ASA also gives America's 60 million anglers a voice in policy decisions that affect their ability to sustainably fish on our nation's waterways through KeepAmericaFishing™, our angler advocacy campaign. America's anglers generate over $48 billion in retail sales with a $115 billion impact on the nation's economy creating employment for more than 828,000 people.
