AMFF to Honor Tom Brokaw with 2015 Heritage Award

Manchester, Vermont - The American Museum of Fly Fishing announced yesterday that Tom Brokaw will be honored with their 2015 Heritage Award. The celebration will take place on Friday, April 24, 2015 at The Racquet & Tennis Club in New York City. The Heritage Award will be presented by honorary event chair Lefty Kreh.

Tom Brokaw is an American television host and author. In addition to being the anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News for over twenty years, Mr. Brokaw is also a life-long angler. He was an early advocate of conservation initiatives and has supports organizations such as the Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Norton Simon Museum. He is a regular on the Outdoor Channel program, Buccaneers & Bones [Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. ET], along with Lefty Kreh, Billy Klyn, and Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard, as well as notable guest stars such as late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, actor/comedian Jim Belushi and musician Huey Lewis.

The American Museum of Fly Fishing established the Heritage Award to honor and celebrate individuals and organizations whose commitment to the Museum, the sport of fly fishing, and the conservation of our natural resources set standards to which we all should aspire. The Museum is most appreciative of Tom Brokaw's efforts and it is honored to recognize his continued contributions to the fly-fishing community.

"Tom Brokaw once said 'If fishing is a religion, fly fishing is high church'. In my opinion, no truer words have been spoken. Fly fishing does not waste time on those who have none; the pinnacle of our sport is reserved for those who have the patience and dedication necessary to unlock its amazing potential. Mr. Brokaw has been a regular parishioner of our 'church' for many years and has championed some of the most important and lasting initiatives that have made our sport what it is today. The AMFF's Board of Trustees join me in honoring Tom Brokaw for his continued contributions to the sport of fly fishing." - Cathi Comar, Director of the American Museum of Fly Fishing
