Record Shark Angler Abrahamsson Joins Johnson Outdoors Watercraft

RACINE, WISCONSIN, -Johnson Outdoors Inc. (Nasdaq: JOUT), a global leader in outdoor recreation equipment, announced that Joel Abrahamsson has joined Johnson Outdoors Watercraft as a Pro-Staffer.

Abrahamsson, 33, has been an angler his entire life, with a primary focus on kayak fishing. He is regarded as one of the most prolific anglers in Scandinavia. While widely known as a freshwater predator angler, he has also broken into the big game saltwater fishing world in a very noticeable way. In September, 2014 Joel broke the world record for heaviest fish ever caught from a fishing kayak by reeling in a 1,247 lb Greenland Shark. He caught the giant off the coast of Andørja Island, Norway. Abrahamsson documented his experience at: http://youtu.be/oNVZcdD7IMY

Abrahamsson regards fishing as both an adventure as well as a lifestyle. He has worked as a freelance writer for angling magazines in Europe and the United States, featuring the brands he fishes from, and lending exposure to the sport. Abrahamsson will help lead Johnson Outdoors Watercraft forward in Sweden, marketing both the Old Town and Ocean Kayak™ brands. He looks forward to the new venture, saying, "I have decided to make kayak angling a very large part of my life and give it my all. I have the knowledge it takes and I definitely have the energy. With Old Town and Ocean Kayak's dedication to designing the finest fishing kayaks, this is an excellent fit and an exciting time for kayaking in northern Europe."
