Saginaw Bay Visitor Center hosts free Motown hits concert

Award-winning vocalist Jamie-Sue Seal will perform some of her favorite Motown hits in a live performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Bay City State Recreation Area. Seal has recorded five albums, has toured every region of the United States and performs as a solo artist, in duos and with her band. Her repertoire reflects the different styles of music she loves, including roots rock, country, folk, gospel and jazz standards.

Seal's performance is a part of the Saginaw Bay Visitor Center's "Music from the Marsh" concert series, featuring different musicians every Saturday evening during the summer.

The concert takes place in the day-use area of Bay City State Recreation Area, near the Saginaw Bay Visitor Center. The park is located at 3582 State Park Drive, in Bay City. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating. For more information, stop by the Saginaw Bay Visitor Center, call 989-667-0717 or visit www.michigan.gov/saginawbayvc. In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the visitor center auditorium.

There is no charge to attend, but a Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to Bay City State Recreation Area.

A Recreation Passport is required for any motor vehicle entering a Michigan state park, boat launch, state forest campground or nonmotorized state trailhead parking. Residents can purchase the Passport for just $11 ($5 for motorcycles) at the time of Michigan license plate renewal through Secretary of State. Forgot to check "YES" during renewal? Residents and nonresidents can purchase a Recreation Passport window sticker during regular business hours at state parks. Learn more about how the Recreation Passport supports state parks and local outdoor recreation opportunities at www.michigan.gov/recreationpassport.
