State-owned surplus land in Cheboygan County, MI to be offered through live auction

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources will offer two parcels of land in Cheboygan County for sale by live public auction Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 in Rogers City, Michigan. The auction will begin at noon at the Rogers City High School gymnasium, 1033 W. Huron Ave.

Registration will begin at 11 a.m. Bidders may pre-register at www.tax-sale.info. The site also includes information about the live auction, as well as details about the properties. Click on "DNR Auction Burt Lake Waterfront" for minimum bid amount, photos, map, and conditions of sale.

These two properties located on West Burt Lake Road are each about 2 acres in size with approximately 175 feet of frontage on Burt Lake (survey pending). The parcels are roughly rectangular and 600 feet deep. Both properties include upland. One includes some wetland at the southerly boundary. The minimum bid for each will be $350,000. Additional information from a survey will be provided as it becomes available.

Burt Lake offers outstanding recreation opportunities and connects to Lake Huron via Mullet Lake. The properties are located about 15 miles southwest of Cheboygan and about 4 miles west of I-75.
