Mule Deer Foundation and Sportsman's Warehouse announced this week a joint effort to raise funds for mule deer, habitat and conservation throughout the western U.S.
Funds generated by local MDF chapters, members and volunteers will leverage matching funds or other partner resources to increase the total benefit to a variety of wildlife species.
Sportsman's Warehouse is donating firearms to be raffled at MDF events during the upcoming banquet season to generate funds that will be available already before the end of this year for on-the-ground conservation projects, usually in cooperation with state, federal or tribal wildlife agencies, according to Miles Moretti, MDF President &CEO.
"MDF VP Ray Crow put this together for chapters in 15 states with our friends at Sportsman's Warehouse who have a history of supporting hunters and conservation," he said.
Crow said 100% of the proceeds will go to MDF's conservation mission. He noted that MDF is one of the most transparent and efficient conservation groups in the world, spending among the highest percentage of raised funds directly on critical habitat and other mission accomplishment projects.
In support of its mission, MDF invites the public to bring families and friends to its national convention during the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah, Feb. 21-24, 2013.
