Hardy Lake (IN) hosts open house
The public is invited to a Jan. 9 open house at Hardy Lake that will explain how the DNR manages wildlife habitats on the property.
The open house runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hardy Lake office.
Hardy Lake is a 2,450-acre state recreation area in Scott and Jefferson counties. Ensuring opportunities for wildlife viewing, hunting and fishing at Hardy Lake requires planning.
The staff evaluates the needs of different wildlife species, including game and non-game animals, to develop a five-year management plan. The staff then uses habitat management techniques to achieve sustainable and diverse wildlife populations.
Hardy Lake staffers and other DNR specialists will be on hand to discuss wildlife management at Hardy Lake. Separate stations will include game and non-game wildlife, invasive species, forest habitat management and fisheries.
Hardy Lake State Recreation Area is at 4171 E. Harrod Road, Scottsburg, 47170.
Terry Davis, DNR Division of State Parks & Reservoirs, (812) 794-3800.
