50% Of N.H. Moose Hunters Successful So Far

CONCORD, N.H. -- As of Wednesday, October 24, 2012, a total of 141 moose had been taken in the 2012 New Hampshire moose hunt (84 bulls and 57 cows). That means that half (50%) of the 281 hunters holding moose permits had succeeded by the midway point in the state's moose hunt, which is in line with a typical year. (Last year, 55% of hunters had gotten their moose by this point in the season.) The nine-day season runs through Sunday, October 28, 2012.

The weather has been on the warm side, but moose hunters have been taking advantage of cool morning temperatures, according to N.H. Fish and Game Moose Project Leader, Kristine Rines. Some hunters have reported seeing sparring bulls.

New Hampshire's nine-day moose hunt continues through Sunday, October 28, 2012. This year, more than 13,400 people entered the moose hunt lottery for a chance to win a permit for the New Hampshire moose hunt.
