Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners to Consider Reducing Deer Hunt Permits October 26
LINCOLN, NE- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners will consider reducing 2012 antlerless deer hunting permits at their October 26 meeting in North Platte. Passage of the measure will reduce harvest pressure in areas with substantial losses from epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD).

The meeting begins at 8 a.m. at Mid-Plains Community College, 1101 Halligan Drive.

Permit reductions of 20 to 50 percent will be recommended in 18 antlerless-only units. It will be recommended that the River Antlerless permit quota change from "unlimited" to 4,500 permits. If changes are approved, they will go into effect following the meeting.

The board also will consider, among other items, recommendations to:

-- Create multiyear hunting and fishing licenses and stamps

-- Amend boating regulations to reclassify open and restricted open waters

-- Amend sport fishing regulations for 2013-2014
