WFN to Debut New Gear Review Show
DENVER, CO & TORONTO, ONT- WFN: World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America, announces an all-new original series, Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose, produced in association with Hook Line and Sinker Productions (HLSP) and premiering in January 2013.

JP DeRose is recognized by viewers as the host of Getting School'd, which has aired on WFN the past four seasons. Each of the 13 episodes of Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose brings together a panel of experts consisting of a guide, a retailer and two tournament anglers to test and evaluate some of the best-in-class fishing gear, including rods, reels, lures and accessories. Four products similar in function and price range will be evaluated on performance, quality and durability by the panel every episode, with JP designing each controlled test and making sure it's properly conducted.

JP will be on the water each episode, giving viewers the opportunity to learn proper technique application with some valuable pointers and helpful tips that involve the category of products being rated. Full recaps and results from the testing along with a panel discussion conclude each show.

"When you take into account the availability of all the great fishing gear out there today, it can be overwhelming for beginner and advanced anglers alike to determine what may or may not be a good fit for them," said Mark Rubinstein, President & CEO of World Fishing Network. "Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose educates viewers on what to buy and why they should buy it in an objective and unbiased manner. WFN's mission is to help anglers make informed buying decisions so that they can maximize their enjoyment on the water."

Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose will encourage anglers to contribute their personal reviews on Beyond the Cast online forums as well as Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/BeyondTheCast) and Twitter (@Beyond_the_Cast) platforms.

Said DeRose: "I want to encourage anglers to share their hands-on experience with the gear we're testing on the show; we want to know what he or she thinks of it. Whether it be good, bad or indifferent, Beyond the Cast will provide honest and unfiltered opinions on the best (and not so good) equipment out in the marketplace."

Host JP DeRose has been fishing for nearly 30 years - 11 competitively and six professionally - and has 130 Top 10 and 30 tournament wins to his credit over the past 11 years. President of the Canadian Bass Anglers Federation for the last seven years, JP's focus has always been to help people become better anglers.

Additional information, including the full telecast schedule for Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose exclusively on WFN, can be found at http://www.worldfishingnetwork.com/tv/shows/beyond-the-cast.aspx.

About JP DeRose

Raised in Southern Ontario, Canada, JP DeRose's passion for angling has remained a constant in his life. Throughout high school and university, JP's love for competitive sports carried over into fishing, and flourished while chasing Salmon and Trout, drifting rivers. This would eventually lead him to lake fishing and then professional tournaments. In 2005, after only five years of competing in small tournaments, he decided to step into Canada's highest level of fishing competition by entering the Pro-Am circuit as a boater and won Rookie of the Year. In 2006, WFN: World Fishing Network was created and filmed the Pro-Am Series. During an interview, JP was spotted as a natural talent. He went on to represent WFN for that season as their sponsored pro. Winning the third tour stop that year, JP quickly adapted to being in front of the camera. At iCast, he was offered the opportunity to act as an interviewer which quickly led to him being offered his own show, a WFN original production called Getting School'd with JP DeRose. After four seasons, Getting School'd became the standard for introducing new gear and instructional fishing. JP dedicates his free time to the Canadian Bass Anglers Federation where he has held the position of club president for the past seven years. His chapter continues to grow and is dedicated to developing fishing at the grass roots level. In competition JP has over 130 top 10 finishes and 30 wins in tournaments over the past 11 years. Currently his primary focus is on competitions, his new show, Beyond the Cast, and helping people become better fishermen through seminars on techniques and tactics that lead to angler's versatility and success.
