Private Lands Prescribed Burning Program Seeks Applications
JACKSON - MDWFP is continuing the Fire on the Forty partnership with the Foundation for Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that provides cost-share for prescribed burning on private lands. This successful program reimburses landowners in selected focal counties up to 50% of costs for implementing and performing a prescribed burn. These focal counties include: Prentiss, Monroe, Lowndes, and Noxubee in North Mississippi, and Amite, Pike, Walthall, Marion, Lamar, and Pearl River in South Mississippi.
To enroll, landowners may submit an application before October 31st to be considered for this year's funding. All applications are competitively ranked based on potential habitat benefits for wildlife. For more information about the Fire on the Forty program, and to locate project application forms, visit
