Dan Vogt Repeats as Whitetails Unlimited's Field Director of the Year
Whitetails Unlimited has named Dan Vogt of Centralia, Missouri, its Field Director of the Year for the fiscal year 2011-12, repeating the top honor for the second year in a row. Vogt, who conducts events for WTU in Missouri, Louisiana, and Arkansas, was honored based on chapter performance, service to local chapters, and internal performance benchmarks.
"Dan always does an outstanding job for Whitetails Unlimited, and that means he does an outstanding job for the WTU chapters in his territory," said Dave Hawkey, vice president of field operations for Whitetails Unlimited. "Local chapters retain half of the net event proceeds for local programs, which is unique in our industry, and Dan is instrumental in helping his local chapters coordinate their conservation efforts."
Vogt grew up in Missouri, and now lives in Centralia with his wife, Michelle, and their son, Jacob. He is an accomplished deer and turkey hunter, and enjoys spending time at home when not on the road. "I'm very proud to have this award for the second year," said Vogt, "but the recognition really goes to an incredible assembly of chapters and volunteers, and they really deserve all the credit."
Hawkey said that in a repeat of last year, Tim Powers of Iowa came in second, and Wisconsin's Jamie Merckx placed third.
Whitetails Unlimited raises funds at banquets and events to be used for education, habitat conservation, and programs to preserve the hunting tradition. Local chapter involvement is essential for Whitetails Unlimited. Anyone interested in starting a local chapter or participating in an event in Vogt's territory can call him at (573) 881-2387, or at (573) 696-1644, or call the national headquarters at 800-274-5471.
