Outdoors Radio wins nine awards at OWAA conference
Fairbanks, AK -- Dan Small and Jeff Kelm, co-hosts of Outdoors Radio, won a total of nine awards in the Radio/Podcast Division of the 2012 Outdoor Writers Association of America (
www.owaa.org) Excellence in Craft Competition. The awards were presented by OWAA executive director Robin Giner at the 85th annual OWAA conference, held Sept. 4-6 at Chena Hot Springs Resort (
www.chenahotsprings.com), near Fairbanks.
Kelm won three first place and two third-place awards:
1st - Conservation/Nature category for "Raccoons in the Attic"
1st - Gear/Technical category for "Emergency First Aid"
1st - Outdoor Fun/Adventure category for "Conquer the Rhine"
3rd - Hunting/Shooting Sports category for "21st Century Deer Management"
3rd - Fishing category for "Ice Fishing World Championship"
Small won two second-place awards and one third-place award:
2nd - Hunting/Shooting Sports category for "Why Women Hunt"
2nd - Fishing category for "Threats to Mississippi River Fishery"
3rd - Gear/Technical category for "Real Time Wave Data"
In addition, Kelm's segment "Conquer the Rhine" won the OWAA Presidents' Award for the best segment entered in the Radio/Podcast Division.
