Autumn Harvest Hoedown at Pokagon SP
Music and square dancing will highlight the 28th annual Autumn Harvest Hoedown at Pokagon State Park on Sept. 29.
Sponsored by the Steuben County Tourism Bureau, the Hoedown is free and open to the public. It runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m. in the South Beach Parking Lot. In case of inclement weather, it will be held in the CCC Shelter.
The Prairie Fire String Band, the "house band" for years, returns, featuring banjo, string bass, guitars, fiddle, penny whistle, hammered dulcimer, mandolin, and multi-voiced harmonies. Square dance caller Marlin Whitaker will also be on hand. No experience is required for dancing (None is preferred!).
A catered cookout and snacks will be provided by Angola Boy Scout Troop 125. A campfire will warm participants. Visitors should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating.
The standard park entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle or $7 per out-of-state vehicle applies.
