Sportsman's "Pig Man-The Series" Snags #1 in Key Demo
New Berlin, WI - (September 11, 2012) - Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, announced that its "Pig Man: The Series" Aporkalypse Now episode garnered the network the #1 rankingin the key M18-49 category among mid-sized networks and earned a .5 rating in that demo during that half hour*, according to Nielsen. The show, which aired Sunday, August 26 at 10pm ET, featured host Brian "PigMan" Quaca and guest Ted Nugent joining forces for a high-octane helicopter harvest, educating and entertainingviewers on the dangers of feral pigs and producing an impressive harvest from two of the industry's biggest personalities. "Pig Man: The Series" airs exclusively on Sportsman Channel.

"This is a ratings success story fueled by one incredibly intense show, two irresistible personalities, and millions of impressions generated by our unrivaled promotional assets," said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. "With dozens of new best-in-class series in our programming lineup this Fall, and our most impressive marketing effort to date, I expect many more ratings successes as we head into the prime fall hunting season."

This particular hunt was a first for Pig Man, in which he was specifically trained on different types of arms and ways to cull pigs and bring their population to a reasonable level. The incredibly destructive hogs have overrun the area, and the team's goal is to eradicate large numbers of them. Texas law states 'sport hunting' from an aircraft for feral hogs or coyotes is a violation of both state and federal law. Producers and everyone involved in this unforgettable episode make it very clear this is NOT 'sport hunting' but rather a depredation hog hunt to help landowners control the populations of feral hogs. This means private hunters are allowed by the State of Texas to pay for the right to harvest feral hogs from an aircraft.

Feral hogs are smart and opportunistic omnivores, meaning they feed on plant and animal matter in addition to being able to play the role of a scavenger. They are largely indiscriminant in their feeding habits and eat both vertebrate and invertebrate animals. Approximately 85% of their diet is believed to be composed of vegetation (including farm crops where available).
