The Bonnier Corporation announced that Anthony Licata has been promoted to Editorial Director for the company's newly formed Men's Group. Licata, who previously served as the Editorial Director for Bonnier's outdoor brands, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and the trade publication SHOT Business, will now add Popular Science, Cycle World, Popular Photography and American Photo to his portfolio. The announcement, effective immediately, was made by Eric Zinczenko, Executive Vice President of the Bonnier Men's Group.
In this new role, Licata will oversee editorial across all platforms for some of Bonnier's flagship brands. In total the titles in the Bonnier Men's Group speak to more than 30 million men, through a combination of print, digital, event and related multichannel offerings.
"Anthony's integrity and commitment to constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new ideas make him the ideal editorial advocate for our brands," said Zinczenko. "He is an expert at creating and packaging best-in-class content that resonates with audience─resulting in a string of successes. I'm thrilled that all of our high-profile men's media brands will now benefit from his strategic thinking and creative vision."
"These brands share a commitment to delivering targeted and inspired service and special-interest journalism to passionate and knowledgeable audiences," said Licata. "Each of the titles has a unique voice and by working with the strong edit staffs already in place, we'll be able to continue and build on the traditions they've developed."
Licata, who was named Editorial Director of Bonnier's outdoor publications in 2011, after four years as the Editor of Field & Stream, has led the titles to 13 National Magazine Award nominations and a 2009 win in the prestigious General Excellence Category. Under Licata's leadership, Field & Stream and Outdoor Life have also bucked industry trends with strong renewal rates and steady newsstand sales over the last two years. The brand's digital properties have also grown immensely over the last year, with fieldandstream.com and outdoorlife.com, posting a 53 percent gain in unique visitors.
Licata has also initiated a number of notable brand expansions at the outdoor titles including the full-season television shows "Gun Nuts" and the upcoming competition series "Field & Stream Total Outdoorsman Challenge" both on the Outdoor Channel. He has also overseen an expansion and improvement of the outdoor brand's digital video content with the award-winning online series "Hook Shots" and "Heroes of Conservation" among others. The last year has also marked the successful launch of more than three new apps for the brands, including the popular "Rut Reporters" that engages outdoorsmen in hunting and outdoor conversations from their tree stands. Field & Stream and Outdoor Life have also celebrated three profitable and successful book launches over the last 18 months, most of which have sat atop Amazon best seller lists.
