Raton, New Mexico saw the first of two yearly Whittington Center Youth Adventure Camps take place. Since 1988, over 2,200 young men and women ages 13 through 17 from all parts of the US, Canada and the world have attended Adventure Camp ... arriving as kids and leaving as young responsible adults.
Wayne Armacost, Executive Director at NRA Whittington Center notes "What separates Whittington Center's Adventure Camp from all other camps is where it's held, the program itself, our trained instructors and counselors, and the true respect, teamwork, and camaraderie among our campers."
This was particularly evident during 2012's first session with 53 campers that continued our ongoing legacy of participatory involvement during the entire camp. Numerous campers gained high marks within various test of their understanding and application of taught skills ... including, hunting, cooking, archery, pistol, rifle, shotgun, and muzzleloaders.
Overall Top Cabin was Cabin 12, Top Counselor in Training - Teague Crosby, Top Counselor - Amos Riggs, and our Top Camper - Ethan Hunt. Congratulations to all on a job well done!
