Sato Custom Rods Hits the Reality Show TV screen

Sato Custom Rods hits the reality show TV screen with Captain Dave Marciano on the National Geographic hit show "Wicked Tuna". When Dave and Brent Ikari (owner of Sato Custom Rods) first connected on Facebook, it was to be a simple "hello, we love your show and good luck catching giant tuna." Like all anglers, a few words are never enough when talking fishing so a custom rod was born. After many more conversations Dave and Brent designed a rod that could handle all that Dave and his boat the F/V Hard Merchandise could throw its way. Although Dave is a sport angler his quest for giant Blue fin is how he feeds his family as a commercial fisherman, his equipment has to stand up to long days, long tiring fights with giants and an extremely busy deck or he may not be able to feed his family.

It took 3 weeks to complete the tuna rod "Jackie" as this was no ordinary fishing rod. The rod blank by Seeker Rods was designed for 1000-pound blue fin tuna, Marlin and other back breaking species. The completed rod is equipped with machined aluminum Alps roller guides, not only precision components but add to the beauty of the rod. Metallic blue "JT Dragon Scales", abalone shell, colored pigments and a beautiful mermaid make this rod more than just a work horse but also a thing of beauty.

Jackie was well-fitted with a custom Accurate ATD-130 reel and given a new home on the F/V Hard Merchandise. Look for the upcoming article about this build in the next issue of Rod Crafters Journal magazine.
