Republican Vice Presidential Pick Featured in Deer & Deer Hunting Magazine

Iola, Wis. - An avid hunter and skilled politician, Paul Ryan was the perfect candidate for the "I'm a Deer Hunter" feature in the October edition of Deer and Deer Hunting Magazine.

Ryan's affinity with the outdoors is well-documented - he eluded reporters when the news about his Vice Presidential nomination surfaced by cutting through the woods he explored as a child - and in this exclusive interview with editor Alan Clemons, the Wisconsin congressman reminisces about his first deer and delves into his progression as a hunter.

"I got into archery from friends who introduced me to it, and I was able to lengthen my hunting season," said Ryan in the October edition of Deer & Deer Hunting. "It was really just a natural progression from gun hunting into archery. Then I got into 3-D targets, tournaments and 300 leagues and really took a liking to all of that. Archery became a year-round thing for me."

Despite a hectic schedule, Ryan remains true to his outdoors roots, finding time to hunt on weekday mornings and getting his daughter involved in the sport.

"I bought our daughter a Winchester Model 70 in .243 for Christmas so she can start

hunting with me," said Ryan. "Wisconsin lowered the hunting age, and she's excited. The kids love hunting and being with me in the stand. We have a great time."
