'Tater Traditions to be held at Potato Creek
Put away the video games and learn how rural Hoosiers entertained themselves 60 years ago with crafts and contests at 'Tater Traditions on Saturday, Aug. 4.
From 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. visitors can see and touch livestock at the Baby Farm Animal Encounter. At 10:45 a.m. there will be a tour of one of the park's historic barns. The animal encounter and barn tour take place at the red barn by the park's west boat launch.
From 1-4 p.m. at the nature center, programs will focus on the rural lifestyle of the mid-1900s. Activities will include corncob darts, sack races, seed spitting and various crafts, including wooden jewelry making, candle dipping and butter making. There will be a $1 fee for each craft activity to cover supply cost. Craft supplies will be limited. Craft tickets may be purchased starting at 9 a.m. at the Nature Center.
The standard entrance fee of $5 for Indiana vehicles and $7 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged.
