The French Creek Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will host a free shotgun safety and clay bird shooting instruction for youth on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Clinton Irwin Gun Club, 333 Jones Road, Harrisville, PA.
Similar instruction classes will be held on August 18th. It's all part of a four event program that includes Youth Pheasant Hunts on Sept 22nd and Oct. 6th.
According to Christine Lavier, students must be at least 12 years of age, and accompanied by a parent and guardian. Students must also bring their own firearms and ammunition, although a 20-gauge youth model shotgun will be available for those who do not have one and ammunition will be available for purchase. Hearing and eye protection is also required and will be available to those who don't bring their own.
Instruction will be provided by NSSA, NSCA and NRA certified instructor Nick Sisely.
Students are advised to dress for the weather as instruction will be held rain or shine. Lunch will be available for a nominal fee.
