The Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons, Maryland announces the appointment of David E. Moyer, as Curator of Estuarine Biology. Relocating from Portland, Oregon, Moyer brings over 14 years of experience in laboratories, aquariums, and zoos. He was responsible for life support and water quality programs at the Oregon Zoo. Prior to that, he worked at the South Carolina Aquarium as a Senior Biologist. His background in public education as well as marine biology makes him an ideal fit for CMM.
A Virginia native, Moyer is thrilled to be back in the mid-Atlantic region where he grew up and completed his undergraduate education at Old Dominion University. "I'm excited to get back to my roots on the Chesapeake Bay and to hands on experiences like managing an aquatic collection, interacting with the visitors and working with a great staff," says Moyer.
"David brings a unique combination of experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm. The fact that he is originally from the Chesapeake Bay region, has a lot of experience with marine life support systems, and is committed to our educational goals make him a good fit for the museum's needs," said deputy director Sherrod Sturrock.
