Gov. Shumlin Encourages All Vermonters to Actively Celebrate Arbor Day
MONTPELIER - Governor Peter Shumlin will acknowledge Friday, May 4th as Arbor Day in Vermont with a special ceremony on the Statehouse lawn at 10 a.m. At the event, Vermont's Tree City USA communities, Tree Line USA Utilities, Tree Campus USA Universities and student artists in the Growing Works of Art contest will be recognized.

The event will conclude with Miss Vermont, Katie Levasseur, leading a StoryWalk on the Statehouse grounds of the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.

"Arbor Day is a holiday that celebrates our future. As trees grow, the services they provide will continue to grow. Our efforts today will continue to improve our resiliency and pay us back for many years to come,"
