Indiana state parks hosting volksmarch events
A series of volksmarches at Indiana state parks this year offers opportunities for hikers and walkers to meet and enjoy some great trails.
A volksmarch is an organized, non-competitive walk that encourages participants to walk at their own pace.
The volksmarches at Indiana's state parks this year will offer distances of 5K and 10K. The events are free, although participants who pay an optional registration fee of $13-$15 will receive an award.
All participants must pay the standard park entrance fee of $5 per in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle.
The 2012 volksmarches at Indiana state parks are:
April 28, Fort Harrison
May 5, Shades
June 23, O'Bannon Woods
July 28, Versailles
Aug. 4, Potato Creek
Oct. 20, Whitewater Memorial
