Big Pool, Md. - Fort Frederick State Park is hosting an afternoon of outdoor fun for the whole family with an Earth Day hike and craft-making activity from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.
"We are going to have a great time," said Charles Sullivan, park naturalist and hike guide. "Families will get to enjoy the outdoors while learning about the flora and fauna that can be found throughout the park."
The program will kick-off with an Earth Day craft-making session using recycled materials. Participants will then join the park naturalist for a fun and educational hike. The hike will be easy and moderately long, suitable for all age groups.
Participants will meet in the visitor center at 1 p.m. Park staff ask that adults accompany their children during the program and recommend weather appropriate attire, sturdy walking shoes, insect repellant and sunscreen. More information is available through the Fort Frederick State Park office at 301-842-2155.
