Venison Tacos the Fare to Feed Oklahoma City's Homeless & Hungry

New Berlin, Wis. - January 26, 2012- Sportsman Channel and Cox Communications are teaming up to host a Hunt.Fish.Feed event in Oklahoma City on Monday, Jan. 30, serving a special venison dinner at Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command.

Special guest Scott Leysath of HuntFishCook will help prepare and serve venison tacos. Hunt.Fish.Feed, created by Sportsman Channel, is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source- game meat and fish donated by sportsmen-to feed those struggling with hunger across America. Oklahoma City's event will utilize 50 lbs of venison donated by local sportsman through the Mule Deer Foundation.

Dinner in Oklahoma City will begin at 5 p.m.

Hunt.Fish.Feed is also serving at The Salvation Army in Tulsa the following day - January 31. Dinner is at 5 p.m. and they also expect to feed 250 men, women and children.

"Programs like Hunt.Fish.Feed provide unique avenues to help the needy, especially during an economic time that finds more and more people in need every day. "We are blessed and grateful to both the Sportsman Channel and Cox Communications for their outreach to citizens here in Central Oklahoma who struggle daily with hunger," said Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Commander Major Dan Proctor. "Any donations of meat - especially those from our local game hunters - go a long way to helping us in our mission of 'Doing the Most Good' to those in the most need. We feed on average 80 to 300 people a day."
