Sports Afield Adds Director of Sales and Licensing

As part of an ongoing effort to grow and strengthen the Sports Afield brand on the eve of the magazine's 125th anniversary, Sports Afield publisher Ludo Wurfbain has announced the promotion of longtime advertising sales representative James Reed to the post of Director of Sales and Licensing.

Reed's new role will be wide-ranging, as he will direct all advertising sales strategies for the magazine as well as spearhead the brand's increasingly successful licensing program. In addition, he will assist with sales strategies for World of Sports Afield Television, produced by Safari Classics Productions.

"Sports Afield is experiencing an exciting period of growth going into 2012," said Wurfbain. "We are continuing to strengthen Sports Afield's position as the premier hunting adventure magazine in the marketplace and will celebrate the magazine's 125th anniversary with special editorial features and advertising promotions. We are expanding our licensing program into a variety of different areas, including clothing, hunting gear, and other products. And we are pleased with the success of World of Sports Afield Television, now entering its second season."

He continued, "As an experienced sales strategist and someone who has an unquenchable enthusiasm for hunting and the Sports Afield brand, James Reed is uniquely qualified to spearhead these initiatives and lead the charge for Sports Afield's continuing growth in the marketplace."

"The unparalleled passion and dedication of our readers is the basis of the Sports Afield brand," said Reed. "And while the magazine is the heart and soul of Sports Afield, our expansion of the brand through licensing and TV makes us more accessible to our core audience while providing an opportunity to reach an even wider group of outdoor enthusiasts.

"I am looking forward to the challenge of helping a grand old brand become even stronger and to ensuring that Sports Afield remains synonymous with the very best in hunting, conservation, and enjoyment of the outdoors."
